Bell Schedule

The bell schedule for CHMS can be found on our home page under the "student" tab, then "bell schedule".

Just to clarify any confusion with regard to the bell schedule, on your child's schedule advisory is listed as "zero" period.  Advisory starts at 8:15 am.  If your child has zero period PE, they will meet at 7:15 am daily.  

Access Achieve

Use Clever to access all our technology programs, including Achieve3000 and RazKids.  Use your DISTRICT Google email address (it must end with @carlsbadusd.net) and password to login.  Make sure no other users are logged into Google before accessing Clever.

SOAR 2017-18 After-school Program

SOAR is a licensed after-school program for students at all three middle schools.The SOAR program is known for its experienced staff, academic support, varied enrichment offerings and convenient, on-site school locations. Congratulations 6th Grade Students!

Congratulations to our 6th grade students for being featured in EdCorps Blog through a blog entry written by 6th graders Izzy Vidal and Ariana Ramos.  The post reads of student empowerment, real life skills, and the bravery of our teachers to attempt to try something they have never done before.  

CHMS Teacher of the Year!

CONGRATULATIONS MS. PATTI LANGEN who was nominated as CHMS Teacher of the Year!!!    We would also like to extend congratulations to the runners-up:  Mr. Aaron Sottile and Mr. David Delaney.  The PTSA announced the award this week and provided gifts for our winning teachers!  We are lucky to have such an awesome staff at CHMS!

Camp Marston Sixth Grade Camp March 19-23

The 6th Grade Campers made it safely to camp!  Mr. Ecker is visiting camp Tuesday and Ms. Stapleton and Ms. Espeleta are heading there Wednesday!  We will continue to keep you updated!

CHMS PTSA Nominating Committee for 2018-19 School Year

The Nominating Committee of the CHMS PTSA is currently seeking parents who are interested in making our school outstanding and who will be committed PTSA members with an interest in serving on the Executive Board for the 2018-2019 school year.

CHMS PTSA Donation Wish List

Calavera Hills Middle School is seeking donations for our school and would love your help!  Items will be used in many wonderful ways such as for clubs like the Girls KREW (Art) Club and Board Game Club and for our incredibly innovative Makers Space Lab, as well as for our amazing courses in science, design and modeling, broadcasting, Spanish, special ed, and more.  Some will be also be used as Rockin’ Rewards for students.  Please see the attached list.  Donations would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the school office anytime between 7:30 am-3:30 pm Monday-Friday.

Spring Sports at CHMS

Boys and Girls Club will be offering Girls Basketball and Track & Field as Spring sports at CHMS.  The girl's basketball link has been updated with practice times and rosters.  Please use this link for details or visit our Athletics page.

CHS Sports Physical Dates 2017-18


Do you need a physical for athletics or an activity??

Please join us for our school sports physicals! This is for any 8th grade student.  They do not need to be attending CHS next year.   Please bring $25 cash, along with a form filled out by your parents (the top and bottom only, as the doctor fills out the middle) You can find the form on carlsbadathletics.com, click forms, and physical form.  Please email awaters@carlsbadusd.net with any questions!  Hope to see you at one of these events!  Incoming freshman welcome as these physicals last a calendar year!  They would not expire until 5/24/19!

Yearbook Orders

Parents and Students: Yearbook orders are available for purchase through our Webstore.  The price is now $40.  


It is time for 8th Grade Tribute Ads in the Yearbook.  We have a limited number of ad spaces so if you would like to purchase a space in the yearbook to congratulate your 8th grader then now is the time to do that.  This year parents will get to create their own ad to celebrate their student.  Create and pay for your ad online by March 9th.  For details click here.

Enrollment/Registration for the 2018/19 School Year

Registration for 6th to 8th grade students for the 2018/19 school year already attending Carlsbad Unified School District will be held in August 2018 (exact dates to follow).  Tour information for incoming 6th grade students can be found below.

The College Process Starts in Middle School

CUSD middle and high school counselors will cover A-G graduation requirements, how to balance academics and extracurricular activities, community service requirements, and how students can become competitive college applicants. 3 sessions covering the same information will be offered at all three middle schools in April.  CHMS will host the event on Tuesday, April 10 from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Cavern.  For details, please see the attached flyer.  To attend please RSVP to Rosemary Eshelman at reshelman@carlsbadusd.net.

After School Tutoring

After School Tutoring begins October 9th at CHMS and will be offered every Monday and Tuesday from 2:55pm to 3:55pm in Room #207. Mr. Dunn will be heading tutoring this year.  If you have any questions, he can be reached at barrett.dunn@carlsbadusd.net.

Attendance Procedures

We have been receiving several inquires about the proper procedures to call your student out of school early. If your student has a doctor appointment or personal appointment that makes it necessary for him to leave school, please send a note to or call the Attendance Office in the morning so we can issue an off-campus pass. Please do NOT bring the note to your teacher, it must go directly to the attendance office.  

  • This enables the school to account for the student’s whereabouts.
  • When a student has obtained a pass, the Attendance Office will clear the periods he is gone.
  • Your student may be waiting in the office for you to pick up, saving you time.
  • The school will receive full ADA funding for your student’s partial day attendance.

Include in the note what time your student needs to leave and the reason he is leaving (doctor or dentist appointments, personal reasons, etc.)
