8th Grade Donations Drop Off

Attention 8th Grade Parents!  Thank you so much for signing up to bring food and drinks for our 8th Grade BBQ and 8th Grade Dance!  WEB and ASB want to make the drop off process as easy as possible, so they have scheduled a curbside drop off time before school on Wednesday, June 7th starting at 7:30 am.  Please bring only non-perishable items that day and students will happily take them from your car and deliver them to the front office.  Again, thank you for your generosity!!

Flower Order Information

Attention 8th grade parents: The end of the school year is fast approaching, and now is the time to prepare for your child's special day.  As you know, 8th grade promotion is an important step in the life of your child.  And you have the opportunity to make their day even better by purchasing flowers and Hawaiian leis from Kahuna Flowers.  Please see the link to place orders.  Not only will you enhance your child's promotion experience, but you will be helping Calavera Hills Middle School.

8th Grade Promotion Picture

Lifetouch will be here at CHMS on May 4th to take 8th Grade Promotion pictures.  Pictures will be taken during the students' PE periods so students will not be changing that day.  Nice attire is suggested and, if desired, a cap and gown will be available for the photo.  Make up date is May 5th.  A flyer and order form with details will be posted soon.


8th Grade Promotion Committee Meetings

Here are the remaining meeting dates for our 8th Grade Promotion Committee:

  • May 4 at 4:30 pm
  • May 18 at 4:30 pm (please note: changed from May 25)
  • June 1 at 4:30 pm

All meetings will be held in Christina Seluga's Classroom #212.  See you then!

8th Grade Awards Assembly

The 8th Grade Awards Assembly  is June 9th at 8:15 am.  The schedule can be accessed here.

8th Grade Promotion Dance

The dance will be held on Friday, June 9th from 6:30-9:00pm. There is no charge to attend, and we encourage all 8th graders to come and enjoy the music, dancing, and friends.  Snacks and refreshments will be provided.  We encourage you to dress in appropriate semi-formal wear (no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc.)  Our dress code policy is still in place (look to CHMS site for details).  We will have a photo booth available to take individual and group photos. The dance is a lock out/lock in. Students can leave anytime, as long as a parent signs you out. You may not arrive any later than 7pm and need to be picked up promptly at 9:00pm.


We are also in need of donations for the dance.  Please click here to sign up, and please  deliver your donations by Thursday June 8th, 3pm to the main office.  Label all items "8th grade Promotion Dance."   Monetary donations are also welcome to cover the cost of pizzas. Thank you for your generosity!


8th Grade BBQ


The 8th-grade BBQ and dodge ball tournament is on Wednesday, June 14th from 12:30-2:48pm. We are looking for donations of money or drinks and snacks.  Please click here to sign up.  All donations can be given to the front office care of 8th-grade promotion.  If you plan to donate refrigerated items, please drop off either Tuesday, June 13th or the morning of Wednesday, June 14th.  

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony


The promotion ceremony will take place at 9am on June 15th in the gym. The doors will open at approximately 8:30am to begin seating parents, families, and guests. Student names will be read as designated in our student information system. If you would like your student to be called by a shortened version or alternate name, please send an e-mail to Ms. Keck,, no later than May 26th.  Light refreshments and promotion certificates will be available for pick up at the tables on the basketball courts after the ceremony. After picking up your student’s certificate, you may leave with your family.
