Donations Needed for 8th Grade Promotion

WE NEED YOUR HELP!  The Promotion Committee is working very hard to help make our 8th grade events extra special for our 2018 class!  PLEASE consider donating in one or more of the following ways:

Or you can make a cash donation.  A suggested donation of $10 is encouraged so as to ensure that all promotion activities and decorations are achievable and memorable for our students.  You can make your donation by check payable to "CHMS ASB", write "8th Grade Promotion" in the subject line, and deliver it to the front office; or you can access the online donation form under "Webstores: 8th Grade Promotion" on our school loop home page (please access from a desk top computer for webstore donations).  Thank you in advance for your generosity!!  We can't put on these events without you!

 

8th Grade Promotion Committee

We are looking for anyone interested in help making the end of the year extra special for our 8th graders!  Promotion Committee is a group of parents and CHMS staff members that work to organize and decorate our 8th Grade BBQ, 8th Grade Awards Ceremony, 8th Grade Dance, and Promotion.  

If you are interested please fill out our Promotion Committee Form so that you are kept in the loop in terms of meetings, agendas, and all efforts to honor our 2018 8th Grade Class!

Dance Volunteers Needed

Dear 7th grade families, we'd like to ask for your help at this year's 8th grade dance. It's an annual tradition for the 7th grade parents to "pay it forward" by chaperoning this very special event, and it is actually a lot of fun to get insight into what your own children can expect to experience next year when they're in 8th grade. This will also provide you a view into the decorations, entertainment, food, etc. so you can begin thinking about next year's planning process.

8th Grade Promotion Dance

The dance will be held on Friday, June 1st from 6:00-9:00pm.  The theme this year is Masquerade!  There is no charge to attend, and we encourage all 8th Graders to come and enjoy the music, dancing and friends.  Snacks and refreshments will be provided.  We encourage you to dress in appropriate semi-formal wear (no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc.)  Our dress code policy is still in place (look to CHMS site for details).  We will have a photo booth available to take individual and group photos.  The dance is a lock-out/lock-in.  Students can leave anytime, as long as a parent signs you out.  You will not be allowed to return in once you are signed out.  You may not arrive any later than 6:30pm and need to be picked up promptly at 9:00pm.  

 

8th Grade Awards Assembly

The 8th Grade Awards Assembly will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 8:15-9:15 am.

 

We will be following the 8th Grade Assembly Bell Schedule that day.

8th Grade BBQ

The 8th Grade BBQ and dodge ball tournament is on Wednesday, June 13th from 12:30-2:48 pm.  We are looking for donations of money or drinks and snacks.  Please sign up here to donate items. All donations can be given to the front office care of 8th Grade Promotion.  If you plan to donate refrigerated items, please drop them off either Tuesday, June 12th or the morning of Wednesday, June 13th, and label your items "8th Grade BBQ".   

 

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

The Promotion Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 14th from 9:00-10:30 am in the gym.  The doors will open at approximately 8:30 am to begin seating parents, families, and guests.  Student names will be read as designated in our student information system.  If you would like your student to be called by a shortened version or alternate name, please send an email to Ms. Claudia Keck at ckeck@carlsbadusd.net, not later than May 26th.  Light refreshments and promotion certificates will be available for pick up at the tables on the basketball courts after the ceremony.  After picking up your student's certificate, you may leave with your family.  

 

 

Flower Order Information

With promotion coming up fast, 8th-grade families have the opportunity to purchase leis or bouquets from Kahuna Flowers. You can follow THIS LINK to make online purchases.You will be able to pick these items up the morning of promotion. We will also be selling some at promotion but will have a very limited supply.

Parents and Students: Yearbook orders are available for purchase through our Webstore.  The price is now $40.
