Pennies for Patients Fundraiser

Hi Coyotes! 

This month, we will be participating in the Pennies for Patients fundraiser! This is where we collect loose change or larger donations to send to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in order to help children with cancer. Students were given the materials to bring home on April 10th. If you need additional information, please see the attached flyer.   

Students will turn their donations into their Advisory teacher. ASB will collect it each week and count up how much each Advisory class has collected. The class that collects the most by April 27th will win a pasta lunch sponsored by Olive Garden! 

We hope we can get a good amount of money to send to support this cause. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

The College Process Starts in Middle School

6th Grade to Qualcomm

Our next trip  to Qualcomm’s Thinkabit Lab will be on Thursday, April 12th (Mr. Marshall's Advisory).   We have built six trips to the lab to accommodate each 6th grade student over the next month and a half as part of a relationship that we are very proud of at CHMS intended to align our work with the type of activities our companies feel is likely to result in students being prepared to take on jobs in a changing economy.

Congratulations to Mr. Aaron Sottile's Design and Modeling class for being named the "Best in Show" as the most innovative program in San Diego County by the Classroom of the Future Foundation.  He and his students will be honored in May and his program will receive $10,000 for the honor!

CHS Sports Physical Dates 2017-18

ATTENTION 8th GRADE PARENTS:

Do you need a physical for athletics or an activity??

Please join us for our school sports physicals!   This is for any 8th grade student.  They do not need to be attending CHS next year.  Please bring $25 cash, along with a form filled out by your parents (the top and bottom only, as the doctor fills out the middle) You can find the form on carlsbadathletics.com, click forms, and physical form.  Please email awaters@carlsbadusd.net with any questions!  Hope to see you at one of these events!  Incoming freshman welcome as these physicals last a calendar year!  They would not expire until 5/24/19!

Parents and Students: Yearbook orders are available for purchase through our Webstore.  The price is now $40.  

 

It is time for 8th Grade Tribute Ads in the Yearbook.  We have a limited number of ad spaces so if you would like to purchase a space in the yearbook to congratulate your 8th grader then now is the time to do that.  This year parents will get to create their own ad to celebrate their student.  Create and pay for your ad online.  For details click here.

Attendance Procedures

We have been receiving several inquires about the proper procedures to call your student out of school early. If your student has a doctor appointment or personal appointment that makes it necessary for him to leave school, please send a note to or call the Attendance Office in the morning so we can issue an off-campus pass. Please do NOT bring the note to your teacher, it must go directly to the attendance office.  

  • This enables the school to account for the student’s whereabouts.
  • When a student has obtained a pass, the Attendance Office will clear the periods he is gone.
  • Your student may be waiting in the office for you to pick up, saving you time.
  • The school will receive full ADA funding for your student’s partial day attendance.

Include in the note what time your student needs to leave and the reason he is leaving (doctor or dentist appointments, personal reasons, etc.)

Coyote Compliment Winners

Coyote Compliments are given out by staff members to students who are caught showing excellent behavior by following our school rules of Safety, Understanding, Respect and Effort.  Every Friday we will have a weekly drawing to award one male and one female student with a small prize to reward them for their excellent behavior!
