SOAR After School Program

Does your student need a place to go before or after school hours? The Carlsbad Educational Foundation has the place! SOAR is the on-site, hang-out spot for your student to have fun, and for you to rest easy. 

Parking Lot Safety

Student safety is our number one priority at CHMS.  As a driver, please be aware of the safety of others.  This includes in our parking lot and surrounding areas.  Please respect posted parking signs, bike lanes, driveways, and all traffic laws.  

Students, please be responsible for your own safety and only cross in designated cross walks and watch for cars.

Together, we can make our neighborhood a safer place.

sleeping bag and pillow case drive

Join CHMS and CHE Kids for Peace in a Coyote-wide sleeping bag and pillowcase drive. Bring your new or gently used sleeping bags and pillowcases into the front office and drop them in the blue collection bin. All donations will be delivered to Oceanside Homeless Resource. We will be collecting through March 13, 2020. Thanks so much for your consideration!


The pink Health History Form for 6th grade camp is due February 28, 2020.  However, it can be turned in at any time, even prior to payment.  It would be extremely helpful to start receiving them before Winter Break. Your student can hand it into their Advisory teacher or drop it off at my desk in the Counseling Room.  If you are unsure if your child will be attending, send in the form and it can be pulled later if need be.

Reminder:  6th grade students will need to have their Tdap vaccination for 7th grade registration.  Please be sure to submit your proof of Tdap vaccination to the Health Office before June 1, 2020.

Sage Creek High School Drama Department presents "Matilda the Musical" on February 20, 21 and 22.  Please see the attached flyer for details.

PTAS is hosting an Honor Roll Breakfast on Friday, February 21 from 7:45 am to 8:35 am (through advisory period). This breakfast is for students who met the honor roll criteria for first semester of the 2019/20 school year.  Parents and students have been notified by email and students will receive a paper invite the week of February 18th through their advisory class.  The breakfast is for students only.  Congratulations to all the students on their hard work!

Honor Roll Criteria: GPA of 3.5 or higher and no N's or U's in Citizenship.

Calavera Hills Middle school will hold its College and Career week at the end of February.  Career day will take place on February 26 and we need speakers who are passionate about their careers and would like to share this passion with middle school students. Please see the attached flyer for detailed information about the day.

Don’t miss out on the exciting Carlsbad Educational Foundation Robotics Showcase on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.!  Students from our school will compete alongside more than 40 FIRST LEGO League teams from all CUSD elementary and middle schools. Come to support and learn more about robotics!

 Our students participated in the Nordson Tech Time School Challenge with their science class to solve a real-life STEM problem in an essay or presentation format. An Apple iPad and other prizes are awarded to winners at an all-school assembly hosted by Nordson Corporation! Learn more information about the school-wide project:

after school tutoring

This week marks the beginning of tutoring for students after school on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:55-3:55pm in Ms. Schuman's room (110). This is a service we provide free for any CHMS student as we seek to help every student reach their academic goals. There is no requirement to pre-register.  However, we take attendance each day of tutoring and students are expected to stay the entire time unless previously arranged by a parent.  Please reach out to Ms. Schuman (  if you have any questions about tutoring.
