We are looking for Parent Volunteers at lunchtime each day.  Our hope is to offer students a variety of activities to participate in each day during their lunchtime.  If you have some flexibility in your day and are interested in coming on campus to work with our students, please fill out this form.

free breakfast and lunch for all students

For the school year 2022-23, one breakfast and one lunch daily are provided to all students at no cost. Students should know their school ID number to enter when getting their meals. Menus are updated monthly and can be accessed online

Join the City of Carlsbad for hands-on bike safety practice!

The city is hosting two interactive, three-hour bike safety classes on March 25 and April 22. It’s a great opportunity for riders of any age, and especially young riders. The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition has tailored this class just for us. It will include three parts: 

1. Learn the rules of the road including where to ride, emergency maneuvers, legal rights and responsibilities and Carlsbad specific e-bike rules
2. Practice essential bike riding skills in the parking lot of the Senior Center
3. Join a bike ride through the Barrio and Village with a licensed cycling instructo

Knott’s Berry Farm 8th Grade Trip Field Trip May 31st

If your child is interested in participating in the end-of-year 8th grade trip to Knott’s Berry Farm, the time to act is now!

The Knott's Berry Field Trip and Promotion Events can't happen without contributions from families. Here is how you can send in your contribution.
  • Go to https://chms-asb.myschoolcentral.com and select the 8th Grade Knott's Berry item and 8th Grade Events If you have questions about the online store, contact Mrs. Keck at ckeck@carlsbadusd.net.  Then drop your paperwork off at the front office. If you are able to, please provide the receipt # or a print out of your receipt. 
  • OR send in your payment in Cash or Check, written to CHMS ASB, along with your paperwork to the front office
  • If your family requires financial assistance, please contact Mrs. Keck.
It may be difficult for some families to pay the full amount of the requested contribution. We appreciate any additional donations. All students will be able to participate in end-of-the-year activities regardless of their ability to pay.

After April 1st, we will not be able to accept any late orders. Our online store will close, and students will have the option to pay $55 cash from the few extra books we have on hand, first come first serve.

If you know a young teenager looking for an after-school activity in 2023, please let them know about L.I.T.E. – Leadership in Training & Education. This city program gives younger teens in grades 6 - 9 a place to come and learn essential life skills in a fun and safe environment. We focus on career builders, communication, community service, finances, college, team builders, and leadership. Daily homework assistance is also provided. The group meets at the Pine Avenue Community Center.
