Principal

I began my career in education teaching English with the San Dieguito Union High School district. For eight years, I served the district as an English teacher, but also wore the hats of ASB director, Yearbook teacher, and reading intervention teacher.  In the district, I also served as the school site English department leader and eventually the District English Department Chair.  As a teacher, I went to school in the evenings to complete my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, my Masters in Administration and completed my Administrative Services Credential. 

Moving over to the Carlsbad Unified school district, I took the role of Assistant Principal at Aviara Oaks Middle School.   At Aviara Oaks, our team focused on increasing engagement and increased writing through the use of technology.  As the result of our work, we saw a thirty point rise in our API.  

I am so happy to call Calavera Hills Middle School home and I am so proud of the way we have built strong collaboration within our school to create a positive, rigorous, and supportive place for students. The productive and positive partnerships with the Calavera PTSA, community members, local businesses and staff have helped create an environment on campus that supports our kids in the pursuit of their dreams. All of this has been a lot of fun.  All of us at CHMS appreciate all of the ongoing support we receive in working together to build opportunities for our students.  We will continue to work to build meaningful, relevant, and interesting learning experiences for our students.
